A short hop away from the Georgia World Congress Center and Phillips Arena, the Georgia Dome’s location is hard to beat… and there is nothing better than following up an Atlanta Falcons’ win with an incredible meal in Downtown Atlanta.
If you are in town for the game only and/or don’t feel up for traveling much further than around the dome, don’t worry! There are still plenty of great places to eat at within just a short distance of the Dome.
Restaurants in Atlanta near the Georgia Dome
5. The Varsity
One word comes to mind when Atlanta residents think of the Varsity: Legendary. This Atlanta classic will be sure to meet expectations for those craving burgers, fries, and a Frosted Orange.
It’s the quintessential Atlanta dining experience that you won’t want to leave the city without trying at least once.
4. Sweet Auburn Curb Market
Atlanta’s oldest public market, Sweet Auburn Curb Market may as well be the tastiest. Located in the popular Martin Luther King Historic District, the market is usually jammed pack.
The market recently went through extensive renovations over the past few years, coinciding with a number of tasty new in-market restaurants as well (with Sweet Auburn BBQ topping the list as our favorite).
3. Ray’s in the City
Ray’s has multiple locations throughout Atlanta – all known for their superb quality. If you are a fan of seafood, you won’t want to leave this off your list.
Entrees include mostly fish (most often in grilled form) alongside the raw oysters and fresh sushi selection. And on par with the fine dining, the décor includes an aquarium, onyx bar and tiled walls for the sophisticated sports fan.
2. No Mas Cantina
Mexican restaurant No Mas Cantina sits in the historic Warehouse District. It’s a prime example – with its sprawling outdoor garden and popular margarita-sipping patio – of why the district is becoming so popular.
Food includes queso and chips, carnitas tacos, and more adventurous meals like Camarones Brochette (bacon-wrapped shrimp stuffed with chipotle pepper and cheese and served over polenta).
1. Alma Cocina
Since opening late in 2011, this place has become a regular favorite as one of the most popular Mexican restaurants in Atlanta.
The presentation of the décor and food is top notch, and so are the flavors. The restaurant also includes its own gluten free menu, perfect for the fan with a gluten allergy.
